The aim of the commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) course is to train PPL(A) holders to the level of proficiency necessary for the issue of an EASA Commercial Pilot Licence but also train you with the necessary skills that will help you in your pilot career.

The flight training requirements for applicants without an Instrument Rating comprises a minimum of 25 hours of dual flight instruction, including 10 hours of instrument instruction. Applicants with a valid Instrument Rating or BIFM will require a minimum of 15 hours dual flight instruction under Visual Flight Rules.


Course Information

ACS Flight Training run CPL courses on behalf of the The British Aerobatic Academy. They are the leading Commercial Flight Training Organisation in Scotland.

The training is completed on their complex Piper Arrow PA28R aircraft. This aircraft is equipped with a variable pitch propellor and retractable landing gear and Garmin GNS430.


CPL Pre-requisites


Training Environment

ACS Flight Training is based at Perth Airport, Scotland. Perth Airport is a CAA licensed airport and is well equipped with three operational and serviced runways. This includes a main runway with PAPI lights, pilot
controlled lighting for night training and a radio navigation beacon
(VOR) for practice instrument approaches.

The airport is operated by ACS Flight Training so this enables them to offer
discounted landing fees for ACS students and members.

Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness Airports are all
within 20-25 minutes flight time. These airports are equipped with
both radar and precision approach aids which are used during
the instrument rating course.

Course Fees

£7,400 or £4,590 if IR already held

Fee includes:

– All ground school and study aids.

– 25 hours flight training

– All Landings at Perth Airport

– Airways and approach charges.

Course fee excludes:

– Accommodation

– Skills Test Fee

– Additional training (if required)
